Hooked on Shopping:
Bait or Delivery?

In the ocean of the internet,
is that a package or a hook?

Story Commentary

Hi, I'm octopus0plus. Modern life has moved entirely into the digital sphere, especially when it comes to shopping. But I started wondering: at what point does our convenience turn into a trap?

In this video, I used fish to portray the modern consumer. In the vast deep-sea of e-commerce, the line between "ordering a product" and "biting the bait" has become dangerously thin. Are we truly choosing what we need, or are we just following the shiny lure of targeted ads? I wanted to capture that moment of hesitation—is it a prize or a trap?

Concept: The Consumer's Hook

The core concept of this piece is 'The Paradox of Choice.' I aimed to visualize the thrill and the underlying risk of impulsive digital consumption.

By blending aquatic biology with high-tech shopping interfaces, I designed a world where a 'special discount' looks exactly like a worm on a hook. It's a satirical look at how we navigate the internet, reminding everyone that sometimes, clicking "Buy Now" is exactly what the fisherman wants you to do.
